VYCON’s VDC-XXE and VDC-XXT flywheel systems store and deliver a reliable source of DC power utilizing the kinetic energy of a high-speed flywheel.  VYCON’s VDC systems provide clean ride through backup power that is predictable and seamless. The VDC units can replace traditional UPS batteries or work in tandem with batteries to provide the most reliable, instantaneous, on-demand power.

When the VDC flywheels are paired with batteries, they are protected against premature aging and unexpected failures.  When the flywheel is used alone, it will provide immediate power to the connected load as it does with batteries. However, if the power loss continues for more than a few minutes, the flywheel will quickly transfer to the facility’s engine-generator.

REGEN Energy Recycling System

REGEN is VYCON’s next generation, flywheel system that captures regenerative electrical energy from various applications and stores it in the form of kinetic energy until converted back into electrical energy when needed.

VYCON’s REGEN 125kW kinetic energy recycling system, with a 20-year service life, can be customized for specific applications including, electric rail, microgrids and industrial equipment. REGEN can cycle hundreds of kWs of power, discharging and recharging every two minutes over 1,000,000 times without degradation of the energy storage capacity. Performance is superior than existing battery technologies.
